My designs are inspired by my mother’s 1950’s antique handbags, and have since evolved to include many different shapes and sizes. One rainy afternoon I picked up one of my speckled stones. It immediately reminded of something, my mother’s cherished antique pocketbooks. I ran into my garage and pulled out a pocketbook that was thrown out every spring cleaning. After everyone went inside, I would scurry to the curb and retrieve my mother’s prized possession.
I began replicating my mother’s pocketbook in my jewelry. Over the years, my jewelry has grown as I have encountered new life experiences, including traveling to new places. Even though the pocketbook is no longer my only focus, I always remember my mother’s inspiration in every piece I make.
In most of my pieces, I pair a quartz drusy with either sterling silver or 14k gold. Drusy quartz are the inside of geo, that sparkle in different colored minerals.
